Line by line

The square mark shows where we come out ahead. One row goes against us, and it matters more than the rest put together: you can use Spond this season, and you cannot use us. The rest comes from what Spond publishes.

Comparison areaThe Full SquadSpond
Built forFootball clubs and academies, and nothing else. Every screen assumes football, and an academy gets the whole platform with the match parts switched off.Built for any sport, not just football, so club-specific jobs, like a league table, a proper club website, or match fees tied to games played, are not really its job.
Pricing£19, £45 or £89 per club per month billed annually (£22, £53 or £105 monthly), excluding VAT, published for anyone to see. Each level keeps everything from the one below it.Tiered packages that commonly climb past £80 a month for the full feature set, and the headline price often is not the price you end up on.
Third-party advertisingNever, on any level. Your pages carry your sponsors and nobody else, with the sponsor slots built in from day one.Cheaper packages often carry third-party adverts, and getting rid of them usually means paying for an upgrade.
Registration and safeguardingFull registration on every level, never paywalled, with medical details, GP information and safeguarding records included. A child can only ever join through an invite the club itself sends.Registration is commonly included, but the depth often varies by package, and some safeguarding features can sit in the pricier ones.
Payment processingPublished tiered rates on every level, cheaper the higher you go, and the money settles straight into your club's own bank account. Refund a family and our fee comes back too, pro rata.Transaction fees commonly vary by package, with the best rate often kept for the top one.
Data ownership and leavingYour club's data is yours. Cancel and you get full service to the end of the period, then a 30-day window to export everything, registration, medical and safeguarding records included, as files you can take anywhere.Exports are typically available but often partial, and what you can take with you is not always spelled out before you sign up.
Children's dataThe consent rules live in the code, not a policy document. A child's name, photo and stats each need their own current consent before anything appears publicly, and no direct message between an adult and a child can exist anywhere on the platform.Safeguarding is usually handled through settings and guidance, with day-to-day compliance left to whoever happens to be doing the publishing.
Who does the website upkeepNobody has to be the webmaster. A site comes with every level, in the club's own colours from the start, and from Club upwards the results and league table file themselves onto the right team pages.A proper club website is not really its job; it is built for organising a group, not running a club site.
What parents getOne account for their children's registration, availability, payments and messages, and they keep access to their children's records even if the club's subscription lapses. Match fees are only ever charged for football played.Team chat, availability and general group organising, which works fine for a small side that just needs everyone in one place, but that is where it stops.
AvailabilityLaunching for the 2027/28 season. Early access is open now.Established platforms are available today, which is a real advantage if your club needs something this season.

Where Spond stands.

What Spond does well, where a growing club runs out of road, and what changes when you move to The Full Squad.

Spond

What it does well

Team chat, availability and general group organising, which works fine for a small side that just needs everyone in one place.

Where clubs outgrow it

It is built for any sport, so club-specific jobs, a league table, a proper club website, match fees tied to games played, are not really its job.

What changes with us

A platform built for football clubs only, with a website, registration and subs sitting alongside the messaging in the same login.

Questions clubs ask us.

Can I import from Spond?

Yes. Export your members or players list as a CSV from Spond and we map the columns with you, rather than leaving you to guess what goes where. See the full detail on the switching page.

Is there a free version of The Full Squad?

No, there are three published plans and no free tier. Joining the early access list is free though, with no card and no commitment, and nothing gets charged until your club is live.

What happens to my data if I leave Spond for The Full Squad?

You get full service to the end of whatever you have paid for, then a 30-day window to export everything, registration, medical and safeguarding records included, as files you can take anywhere.

Why does the table describe Spond as typical instead of quoting a price?

Their packages and menus change more often than we can check, so where we are not certain of the current figure we describe the pattern instead of guessing. Our own three prices are always published on the pricing page.

Is Spond enough once my club needs a website or subs?

For team chat and availability, yes. But Spond is built for any sport, so a proper club website, a league table or match fees tied to games played are not really its job. That is where clubs move to The Full Squad.
